I've Fallen Short

from Fear of a Round Planet by Mercy Beach

/

about

The title is nothing more than saying " I'm done trying to live up to someone's expectation that I can never meet". It goes on about giving and giving until there is nothing more with nothing in in return and then giving the last drop of yourself because that just happens to be who you are. It isn't really contradicting the title, it is reinforcing the human nature of being living contradictions within ourselves. Our goals and intentions can be at odds with our actions and fears.

lyrics

If you don’t want me to stay I will up and leave I’ve fallen short for the final time. If you don’t want me to stay I will up and leave I’ve fallen short for the final time.

“The world is for the taking” a little bird I know once told me “someday you can make it. Trust and have faith dear, nothing now is going to stop you. Someday you’ll make it”. And I don’t know why I still even try but I know I’ll always be there. I don’t know why I still even try but I know I’ll always be there for you. Will you always be there for me? I’ve always been there for you. I’ve always been there, always been there, always been there.

And if you don’t want me to stay I will up and leave I’ve fallen short for the final time. If you don’t want me to stay I will up and leave I’ve fallen short for the final time.
